RESPECT EXISTENCE
Sponsor's prize in the graphic design competition organised by the Museums of Reims
Year:
2022
In 2022, I took part in a graphic design competition organised by the Reims Museums, inviting participants to reinterpret an art-piece from the museum collection.
I wanted to present an artwork that exposes our dependence on nature and the urgent need to protect it to ensure the survival of humankind. I cut out the flowers and plants from the painting Bouquet de fleurs by Simon Verelst (1665), which I then intertwined with the letters of the environmentalist slogan ‘Respect existence or expect resistance’. The letters are increasingly hidden by the plants, as if nature is reclaiming its rights.
I was honoured to receive the Sponsor’s Prize for my creation.
